2009年發行的個人專輯「out of noise」的重製版 《out of noise - R》，坂本龍一本人留下的director's cut音源重新master，加上一首未發表新曲「081121_high」，並以黑膠、CD形式全新發行！這是一張安靜的instrumental作品，也是第一張不使用任何synthesizers的原創個人專輯。

以鋼琴和自然聲音為主題，合作單位包括來自英國的古典音樂表演團體Fretwork、笙演奏家東野珠実、弦樂演奏家小山田圭吾、清水ひろたか、高田漣、Christian Fennesz、Rob Moose等。曲目「disko」、「ice」、「glacier」於製作專輯時受到當時在北極圈的經歷有著強烈的影響。「glacier」後來被用於電影「復仇勇者」(2016 年) 和「怪物」(2023 年)。
